For the festive season we went to Hermanus. It was our first time in this beautiful coastal town. We were not really sure what to expect other than sea and hopefully sun…luckily we had a lot of both. I was pleasantly surprised by the diverse landscape that Hermanus had to offer…on one side is the mountains covered in flowering fynbos and the other side is the deep blue ocean…paradise!
We spent a lot of time exploring the area and walking on the beach as well as the cliff path…which is really worth a walk if you enjoy a bit of a jungle adventure as well as a beautiful scenic walk. The walk is 12kms in total, and follows the seafront. Unfortunately we never finished the whole thing but enjoyed the bit we did do and even came upon a rare sighting – Cape Otters…what a treat!
I really loved going up the side of the mountain…not only to admire the view but to photograph the fynbos, which is so pretty at this time of year and there are so many different varieties. On one of my fynbos hunting expeditions, I even made friends with two cute Spaniels who insisted on following me all around the neighbourhood while I looked for some protea’s to photograph.
We really enjoyed our holiday and all good things do have to come to an end…so with a heavy heart we said good-bye to Hermanus…may we meet again soon! Below is a selection of my favourite images from my holiday.
